Roomservice by Cort gave me a really great send-off – kind words & lovely leaving gifts. After over 6 years with the company, over 25 years in the relocation industry, and over half a century working, I’m taking my foot gently off the corporate pedal – but I’ll still be attending relocation industry events in a consultative capacity – so I’ll be seeing many of you at EURA and I hope at many other events beyond that!

IAIN CRICHTON HAS JOINED AS AN INDIVIDUAL MEMBER – HERE IS SOME HISTORY!
Before dipping his toe into relocation in the early 90’s (marketing short-let properties and home search services to the corporate sector in London), he spent 15 years overseas working for Angus Fire Armour, the world’s largest manufacture of Fire Fighting Equipment, exporting fire engines, fire hose, pumps and foam (that’s the white fluffy stuff that extinguishes oil and aircraft fires) throughout Africa and Asia.
Travelling to over 30 countries on dozens of short-term 3 month overseas trips, a 12 month posting to Zambia’s copper belt and a 7 year long term assignment in Singapore covering the whole of the Far East. What a fantastic job that was!
Since 1992, Iain has worked in the UK on the other side of the relocation fence for Destination Service Providers (including Corporate Housing, Serviced Accommodation & Furniture Rental), and enjoyed putting his global knowledge to good use.
His early first-hand experience as an international assignee, and the challenges faced by upheaval has made him an empathetic and communicative first point of contact for new corporate arrivals to the UK.
And, over the years, he has nurtured a keen understanding of the needs of Service Providers, International Mobility Professionals and H.R. and built up a huge contact network.
You’ve all seen Iain working the room at relocation conferences & functions in UK and overseas, putting his heart & soul into every event, and flourishing in the social aspect of our business.
But don’t let that effervescence disguise his seriousness. “I’m really committed to this industry,” he says. “I’ve met hundreds of great people over the years and providing great customer service and taking the strain has been, and always will be, a real motivator for me.”
He was delighted when, in 2010, whilst at The Furniture Rental Company, he was voted ‘Relocation Personality of the Year’.
“Being recognized by industry peers is the icing on the cake!” Iain is currently looking for new challenges and opportunities in the industry he clearly loves.
