FROM MY FIRE FIGHTING DAYS: 1970 to 1984 – SELLING ANGUS FIRE ARMOUR LTD’S “FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT” IN AFRICA (BLACK & WHITE PICCIES SHOW 1ST TRIP TO KENYA AGED 23 – AND THE OTHERS IN ASIA AGED 36)

Regional Sales Representative – North, East & Central Africa 1970 – 1976. I spent 2 x 3 months trips a year travelling through Africa selling Fire Hose and fittings, Fire Extinguishers and every single thing that went on a fire truck – to a network of local agents in Malta, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi & Zambia. After 5 years of that, had 1 year assignment in Ndola, the mining centre of Zambia’s Copper belt, traveling the whole country supporting the local sales agent’s sales team..
Overseas Manager – Far East 1977- 1984 – Had 7 year posting in Singapore. Masterminded a large ‘fire fighting display & conference’ in Kuala Lumpur. 250 dignitaries from S.E Asia’s Oil & Gas, Military, Civil Aviation & Civil Defence attended.
